Nicoletta Ceccoli

Nicoletta Ceccoli. Pop surrealist painter and an award winning children’s book illustrator, lives in Republic of San Marino, the fifth smallest country in the world. Several years ago, I first met her awesome art that was printed on iPhone skin (GelaSkins), and then became a big fan of her art. I like gentle light and shadow, and sepia like colors that appear in her art. I wish one day I could help her to introduce her work into Japanese art market.

ニコレッタ・チェッコリ。イタリア半島の中部に位置する、世界で5番目に小さな国”サンマリノ共和国”のアーティスト。オリジナル作品にはシュールなものが多いが、多数手がけている子供向け絵本の挿絵ではシュールさを控えた作品を提供している。このポストには、オリジナル作品の中からシュール色の薄いものを選んでみた。やわらかい光と影の感じ、そしてセピア風の色使いが好きだ。ちなみに、最初に彼女の作品に出会ったのは数年前、ジェラスキンズのiPhoneシールのデザイン。ひと目見て気に入った。今年に入って何度かメールのやり取りをさせていただいているが、とても丁寧な方だ。いつか彼女の作品を日本に紹介してみたい。
