Biography
In 1999 KATOKEN started selling his illustrations on the street of Shibuya and Harajuku - hubs of Japan's youth culture, and was widely accepted among young people who loved Japanese pop culture of those days. That success led him to further opportunities to license his works to Japanese licensees. Eventually, over 200 kinds of sundry goods on which his illustrations were printed were distributed all over Japan, and were sold at national chain stores such as Tokyu Hands, Village Vanguard, Kiddy Land. Since then he has been working with many licensees and has been creating a large number illustrations for CD cover, apparel brands, fashion magazines, music magazines, etc. Besides, he has been producing his original art books, comics(see below), apparels, figure toys, plus he is also known as a club event organizer. Basically his art works are based on rock music taste but are not bound by that. He continues to pursue his own unique style.
